Roadkill Rescue

Over at Infarrantly Creative they are having a Roadkill Rescue Party. So I'm thinkin I want to party too.
A few years back on a dumpster diving run my kids and I found this queensize footboard and just couldn't pass it up. Soo into the van it went. I just knew I would find some fabulous project for it. Well a couple of months go by and I'm at my Mom's house walking around the yard with her enjoying all the flowers when I spy with my little eye this headboard. She and my dad had found it on the side of road. Like mother like daughter. Soo this lil puppy went into my van and magically my talented husband turned it into this lovely bench for our patio. It was dark brown stained after a coat of crackle medium and off white paint. Voila

Enjoying the bench with my girls.

Saturday's Thrifty Finds

Join Southern Hospitality for a Mister Linky feast of thrifty finds.

a big honkin bag of brand new pencils, 2 photo albums, blue glass candy dish, St. Joseph's missal, 18 in straw wreath, a lamp, a booster seat and a bed canopy (it's already in the wash)

8 fruit bowls in my china pattern for a special sister

This morning I got up at the *** crack of dawn and took my lil ole self to some garage sales. It wasn't a fabulous day, but I did find myself a few things. Along the way I met up with Jeanine (the birthday girl) and we shopped together for a bit. She found a nice lamp and made a good deal on it. After we exhausted the garage sales we stopped at the Pinhook Flea Market. I found a St. Joseph's Sunday Missal then I spied with my little eye two chandeliers hanging behind the counter. I think they would be fabulous after a little makeover and would be perfect for Jeanine's dining room. They are asking $69 each but I think she could get them for less. We'll see.

Happy Birthday Jeanine

My lovely sister-in-law Jeanine is havin a birthday today. We got up early this morning and went to a few garage sales. Tonight we are gonna get together again to celebrate her day and play a few card games.

Look What JoJo Can Do!

Joanna has learned to put 25 piece puzzles together all by herself.
I hope this is something that keeps her busy this school year. Now I gotta find her more puzzles.

She's Getting Married

My niece Krista and her fiance Zach are getting married Oct 2010.
Congrats guys

Krista was my flower girl 20 years ago. She was 2.
Krista's mom Katy blogged about the engagement here. Check it out her ring is gorgeous. Good job Zach.

Girls with the Vogel Clan

Jeanne and Jessica got to meet all of the Vogel kids and their families last weekend. Man I'm jealous.
They also went to Priest Lake, Idaho yesterday with Anne Marie and Katy Vogel and Jamie, Meesa, and Toni Dunphy.
Follow this link to their adventure.

Happy Birthday Normand

Last Weeks Thrifty Finds

Last Wednesday Katy and I took a little trip to Arnaudville and Breaux Bridge to do a little Flea Marketing with my little ones and her grandaughter Kali. I scored a few cute things. And might go back and get a couple of other things I saw that have been on my mind since then (they would make really nice wedding/shower gifts) for a certain brideI know.
A dozen adorable red and white salad/dessert plates. This has been on my wish list for a while. Imagine the possibilities. Won't Jeanne's red velvet marble cake look spectatular on them.
Cute white pitcher, adorable blue glass pitcher, cobalt bowls and serrated dough/biscuit cutters.

And They're Off

Sunrise on the Basin Bridge
On Tuesday morning I took Jeanne and Jessica to the airport in Baton Rouge. They were excited and ready for their trip. They experienced delays in Dallas that caused them to miss their connection in Seattle. Twelve hours later they arrived in Spokane and were picked up by Anne Marie. They have visited with the Vogels and Dunphy's so far and I'm sure they're having a great time.

Tiger Aquatics Meet

Back in June when Normand and I were in the Bahamas (having a lovely time) the big kids went to the Tiger Aquatics meet at LSU in Baton Rouge. The meet was very hot. The kids all swam well and did us proud. These are some of the pictures they took that weekend.
