Yesterday was Goodwill’s $2 skirt day, so after I drove to Broussard to unlock Andrew’s car ( he locked himself out at work) I stopped at the Goodwill there and found a few goodies.  I found 5 skirts for the girls.  Really cute skirts mostly spring  and summer skirts but a couple they can wear now.

Here’s my haul a couple of  jack o lanterns, 4 gold glasses, 2 diamond shaped dishes, white architectural piece, silver tray, fake grapes, 2 brass sconces, christmas apron and a gold decorative key.

Cute glasses and I now have 4 of these pretty little dishes.  I know someone who just bought a couple of these.  She should sell them to me then I would have six in my collection.

I’m going to put this on the patio wall.

An Afternoon of Shopping

Yesterday after finishing our school work for the day Aimee, Jake, Jo and I spent the afternoon shopping with Aunt Katy.

First we went to Reflections of Olde on Congress, then Jefferson Street Market, another antique shop down on Jefferson toward Pinhook, then onto the Goodwill on Bertrand (where we met up with Nicole and Greta), next was the Goodwill on Ambassador Caffery, then the Brit and Bay Home Decor store on Ambassador (oh my such loverly things), then a quick run into Payless and last but not least the new Paul Michaels store in River Ranch ( double oh my, lets just say you should go).  Fun afternoon and the kids were really good.  Katy was shopping for a bed for Erica and a table and chairs for her new den.

Jo Jo found a hat at Reflections of Olde that struck her fancy.

Too Cute.

At Goodwill she found a book she just couldn’t live without and insisted on taking a picture with it.

pictures 371 I found a cute iron table for the front porch that needs a little rehab, and a pair of shorts for Jeanne.  All in all a fun afternoon.

PS. Katy, I just thought of another place we can look for a bed for Erica.  Call Me.

Fun Shopping Weekend

Normand and I having lunch at Paul's photo credit Katy Larson
On this lovely spring weekend my sister Katy and I did quite a bit of flea/antique shopping. On Friday Katy and I went to an estate sale, Melanie LaFleurs Antique/Consignment shop, Crossroads Antiques in Opelousas, The Old Schoolhouse Antique Mall in Washington and Burkes Outlet in Lafayette. Whew what a day. We both found lots and lots of goodies. Check out Katy's goodies at her blog http://katylarson.blogspot.com/ Melanie LaFleurs was having a fabulous 60% off everything sale and a special sale in one of the out building with 75 % off. She is at Round Top TX this week and will be bringing home new stuff next week. You should go if you can there are lots of lovely treasures. Her hours are Wed -Thurs 9-3.

Then on Saturday to celebrate Katy's 27th bd (wink, wink) she her husband David and Normand & I took a little road trip to Ponchatula, LA home of the Strawberry Festival for a little flea/antique shopping. We got to Ponchatoula just in time for lunch at Paul's on Pine Street. We had a lovely lunch of red beans and rice with sausage and lima's on the side (Katy), hamburger on french bread dressed with lettuce and thick slices of tomato (David) and fresh fried shrimp po-boys (Deb and Norm). After lunch we had lots of fun walking down Pine Street checking out and finding goodies. Katy and I both scored some sweet things and the guys joked around and laughed constantly. Honestly you just can't take them anywhere. After we closed the shops down we stopped at Sonic for Slushies and Cokes to have with some of Katy's homemade Chocolate Almond Biscotti. Yummy Yummy!!! We also each bought a flat of fresh picked juicy sweet smelling delicious strawberries.
Strawberry shaped gummy candy for the little kids. I bought the older kids pralines but they ate them before I could take pictures. The blue dish is one of the treasures I found.

After leaving Ponchatoula (with a few unintentional detours) we drove to Baton Rouge for shopping at TJMaxx, Marshalls, Tuesday Morning and Barnes and Noble. (We found a few goodies there too.)

Then onto Copelands/Cheesecake Bistro for a delish dinner and drinks. The meals we ate were fabulous. David had the grilled tuna, Katy had crawfish ravioli in a cream sauce, Norm had a shrimp pasta dish with crunchy bread, I had eggplant with oysters and shrimp with pasta. To start the me we had clam chowder, absolutely fabulous french onion soup and a house salad. You should go. Oh and I forgot Norm and I split a Bananas Foster cheesecake and Katy and David had a reg cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Divine
